Tobi Beck
​Southie roots. West Coast soul. 100% Ginger
With intuition and spontaneity, I build visual layers using scrapers, palette knives, dirty water, and broken brushes to recreate the urban textures of my childhood in the South Boston projects. This grit defines my raw style—expressive marks reminiscent of stained brick, ripped stickers on light poles, and dry gum on mailboxes.

My work has been procured by NBC/Universal for the Peacock series Based on a True Story and I am a five-time exhibitor at The Other Art Fair Los Angeles. I currently serve as President Pro Tem and Gallery Chair of the Santa Clarita Artists Association with work held in private collections from the US to Denmark. I find comfort in the unique openness of abstraction; it provides the room to explore life honestly through self-trust and vulnerability. I believe fine art should have a little dirt under its fingernails and a lot of heart in its layers.

smudges of my love & guts

My artist journey began in 2014—a practice that carried me through a cancer scare only one year later. That awakening was the catalyst to end a corporate career and pursue art full-time. In the space of abstraction, all of my feelings are encouraged, welcome, and used. It’s untethered expression where I feel safe to explore myself wholly, without the need for resolve or a plan. It’s where I let go and breathe.
