ABSTRACTION
In life. In art.
"I believe in questions. I am comfortable in the gray & dig chats about things with no answers. I love theory, ideas, possibilities, learning, growing, and the complexity of trying to understand. I like seeing how it all fits. Why we end up where we do and what causes the drive. My favorite class in high school was Ditch for the Beach. I left art school with one semester left. I was displaced within the church after falling in love with an amazing woman |my now wife|. I guess you could say I take the long, woodsy way. Some say the wrong one. I say the abstract one. And I'll take an honest, heavy burst bubble over a floaty, empty, glossy one any day. I believe that no one side has the answers and, we as a people, never will. We are too hungry for power and self. We learn but forget all too easily. Then we repeat. We are cyclical. And forever will be. Not bleak; just honest. I think freedom can be found here; in realizing that nothing truly matters. I'm not there yet. I care far too deeply. But I'm super digging the Ecclesiastical idea that everything is meaningless. There is so much beauty in chaos. I like bouncing it around. Sometimes I think about all this when I paint. Most times I am just deciding what I think looks cool and makes my eyeballs happy." |
