"Femme Apparently" - triptych
Original painting by Tobi Beck - This set of paintings were created during a moment of reflection of International Women's Day. From a neutral place of contemplation, I considered the societal expectations of femininity/sexuality, church and politics, the fight within us all to be seen, the assumptions of the color pink, and all things associated with the fragile ego surrounding the topic of gender.
Part of the 3rd release within my Industrial series: grungy, moody marks from memories of my childhood on the streets of South Boston, MA. Most of my gritty abstract work draws from the textures of city life; history alongside the modern world, a blend I find deeply moving and inspiring.
